The Story Behind the Name

I come from a family of creative writers. Both my parents work in PR and we (my family) are constantly playing on words and coming up with names for things, which are usually so random that we put them under the category of "band names," the all-encompassing weird title warehouse. In fact, just today I came up with a name inspired by me accidentally leaving my bowl of cereal in the mailbox overnight (a story for another time). "Mush in the Mailbox" is that not funny? Anyway back to the naming of my blog. My family and I were driving to the city (New York City) and my younger brother and I were sitting in the backseat and I was cracking jokes and my mother goes,
"Amanda, you're a Backseat Comedian, A Comedian in the Backseat!"
And I say, "Haha, that's a good name for a band or an album or something."
And she says, "Yeah we'll have to remember that..."

Fast forward a couple months and we're brainstorming for a blog title. My mom remembers and says,
"Oh my gosh! You should use Comedian in the Backseat! It's a perfect metaphor for you and your perspective on life! You're only 13 years old, but you are so sophisticated and clever."
And I say, "Oh my gosh that's perfect!!"

And just like that Comedian in the Backseat was born.

Thank goodness I didn't name it something silly like Mush in the Mailbox... :)
