App Happy

Ok, currently I am obsessed with two apps. Both of which were introduced to me by my very good friend Emma. The Icon Pop Quiz is a game where you have to guess the names of pictures of characters, TV, movies, and famous people. It is so addicting and pop-culture savvy and if you dont get a name right, or it's on the tip of your tongue, get the cheats app. I swear, it's not illegal ;) and it's very satisfying. I already have most of my friends addicted!
The other app is Picture Magic which has tons of cool effects that can enhance any old picture. My lock screen is currently a picture that I manipulated. It was originally a picture of a plastic tiara in the snow, but now it is a cool purple graphic that almost looks like it holds profound meaning.
I also had a picture of my eyelashes (the latest photo trend) in my iPhone camera roll, and after a few effects, it looked like an advertisement for Maybelline: "Maybe she's born with it.  Maybe it's Maybelline."

Wooly and the, What Now?

If you are a die-hard indie band junkie or just like keeping up with up and coming artists, you might have heard a new name floating around. The name is Wooly and the Mammoth (cool right?), A folk/indie band worth following. They sound very much like The Cranberries or Mumford & Sons. They just released their EP album (According to ever-faithful Wikipedia, EP stands for Extended Play, a musical recording that contains more than a single, but less than a full album) At Bay and (I'll try my hardest to speak in a musically-knowledgeable tone) the twinkling harmonies (what am I? A three year old?) and the crunchy twinges of mandolin (If my last name was Lin then my name would be Amanda Lin- A mandolin, get it? Haha, anyway...) in the background offer a nice crisp backbeat.  (Ok, am I talking about the music anymore or what I had for lunch?) Anyway, you get the point.
(I'm sorry about all the parentheses).
I also might be the teeny-weeniest bit biased as the Female Vocalist/Banjo Player/Guitar player is none other then my cousin, Ali Schilder! She also did the layout for their album cover art which embodies the spirit of the band. And the WM overlay kind of looks like a crown-which I love!
My favorite song is "The Rain Will Come." The lyrics are so pretty and the vocals so, so... oh, see for yourself! I also like "Troubles from so Long Ago."
At Bay is only $1.00 the first week and then gets bumped up to $5.00 afterwards so start clicking, listening, and buying people!
You should really check them out because if you don't, in the future when they make the top 40 list, I can annoyingly taunt you, "I told you so! I told you so!"

I Choose Dior

I am loving Dior. Recently, they are ubiquitous! Whoever their advertising person is definitely deserves a party to celebrate their success. Their covergirl, Natalie Portman, is gorgeous and the perfect representation of the Dior girl. And she's Jewish! (As my grandmother would say.)
Their new commercial is ingenious! The first time I saw it, the song was immediately stuck in my head (Heavy Cross by Gossip). And when I heard it in my dance class the next day, I bought it on iTunes and have been obsessed with it to an extent that I can't go a day without humming it. Although, I'm still not sure if they are saying "Without joy, I chose Dior" or "Without your, I chose Dior" or something else. Comment if you know the answer!
But anyway, the commercial. The shortened TV version is amazing but if you  watch it on youtube, the full version is just magical. Maybe I'm just a sucker for from-another-planet-beautiful fashion icons, but seeing so many famous fashion figures in one place is, to me, fantastic.
Their website (www.dior.com) is the most organized, modern, appealing fashion designer house website that I have ever visited.
Dior's 2013 spring-summer collection is breath-taking to boot. They posted it so they actually make it easy to find, rather than other designers who I had to search youtube for. Tsk tsk.
I hand it to Dior for their impressive work. Keep it up!

My Favorite Awards Show!! (Next to the Oscars and Emmys)

The Grammys!!
Although there is no official red carpet for the Grammys, (silently sobbing in the corner) it is still... the Grammys. And I will still be your sillouette sleuth for the night! (don't you like the sound of that? I should trademark it before I put it somewhere public. Uh oh, too late).
Cut outs are huge! Exhibit A is Kelly Rowland's Georges Chakra dress.
It may be a little controversial seeing as this is a kids' show, but the flattering a-symetric lines make up for that. Sort of.
And did you see Alicia's incredible performance? Playing the drums and singing and the same time? TV genius! She has officially made my Top 20 coolest celebs list.
Buns are in too!! Buns! Funny buns! BUNNY BUNS! Sorry I have to control myself :). JLo sported a high bun with her EXTREMELY revealing dress. geez. She might be the most beautiful woman in the world, but a slit that large is something nobody can pull off. So lets just pay attention to the buns...
And while we are on hair... I am delighted to notice that bangs are all over! T Swizzle, Carly Rae, Jennifer Hudson, Lea Michele, etcetera etcetera. As a former wearer of the fringe, I am elated that they are back in style, and if you want to grow yours back to be trendy, a quicker, easier way is to fake it! *Gasp! Did she really just say fake bangs?!* Yes, yes I did. And Michelle Phan, the youtube makeup goddess, has just the solution. Here is her video tutorial.
Can we talk about viewing this in high definition? Or just high definition in general? I am privileged to be watching on a HD screen, but sometimes the close screenshots are anything but flattering. I'm the kind of person who wants to be starstruck when seeing stars on TV. I don't want to be able to see Rihanna's frizz or Carly Rae Jepsen's arm fat. Just putting that out there.
Mmmm. All this fashion talk is making me hungry. I think I will have a freshly baked leftover halloween candy cookie. Doesn't that sound yummy? Picture a fat, chunky cookie with the occasional Reeses cup  or M&M.

Oh Mah Gawd! I LOVE Bruno Mars!!!!!!! Locked Out of Heaven makes me want to get up and jump all over the place like the swooning teenager I am. Maybe one day when it is appropriate to date someone that is fourteen years older than me and he discovers me via this blog, he will sweep me away on a romantic vacation in Hawaii (his home town). Sorry I'm turning this into Amanda's matchmaking special but just one more thing. Who is this cutie that I keep seeing in the audience? I internet stalked and found out that he is Hunter Hayes, an American country music singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He is signed to Atlantic Records Nashville, and released his self-titled debut album in October 2011. (Thanks wikipedia). Until now I haven't been the least bit partial to country music, but maybe I will have to change that...What did you guys think of Taylor Swift's opening performance. To be honest I liked her better before she went all Valley girl "Weeeee r nevr evr evr getting bak 2gether! Like evr."  Please.
I love the lyrics to Ed Sheeran's song A Team. "And they say she's in the class A team stuck in her daydream been this way since 18 but lately her face seems slowly sinking, wasting crumblings like pastries and they scream the worst things in life come free to us."
Oooh and I have to mention Justin Timberlake's amazing performance of Suit and Tie! I love the old fashioned sound of it, yet it he makes it sound refreshing and new. I have already listened to it on iTunes at least ten times, but have yet to watch the music video.
Ok before this post gets ridiculously long, what? It already has? Oh well, I have to comment on how they projected images onto Carrie Underwood's white ball gown. She looked so majestic!
And one last word. Congratulations to Goyte and Kimbra (Her Dress!) on winning record of the year! My amazing multi-talented mother predicted that it would win when she first heard it at the beginning of 2012. She has successfully done this in previous years, maybe she should do it for a living!
Comments please!

The New Girl

Hello everyone!
I'm finally here! My time has come to fulfill the position of "blogger." I know you all have been patiently waiting.
It seems too easy though.
Does this first post officially make me part of the blogosphere or is there some sort of initiation? If it's that easy then I should write a book or movie and make it known to everyone! I would call it "Perks of being a Blogger" (no relation to "Perks of being a Wallflower" which I have never seen or read, but really want to).
Anywayyy, this blog is really going to be about me and my life and my view of the world. If that sounds boring to any of you, I suggest you leave now. My super-buff cyber-security guards will see you out the exit.
I want this blog to be a way I can connect to people and put myself out there. So without further adooo, I announce Comedian in the Backseat! An all-inclusive blog! My only rule is no judging allowed.
I promise to post as much as possible. But if I have not posted in a long time I am either:
A. On vacation
B. Very busy
C. Abducted by aliens or
D. Eating a ginormous bowl of Fiber One Honey Clusters cereal with extra-cold milk (I cant get enough of the stuff!)
Just to get something straight, the name "Comedian in the Backseat" does not mean this blog will be jokey jokes told from the back of a car. No, this blog is much more legit than that. "Comedian in the Backseat" is a name that metaphorically explains my view of life. Interpret it as you will.
If you recognize me from my header photo, you will suddenly realize that I also star as "Kid Foodie" in video interviews for the Chappaqua Farmer's Market. What?! You don't recognize me?! Well let's fix that right away.
And this video is only one of a series of Saturdays, jam-packed with delicious food knowledge!
Well I think that's about it. I'll leave you with a quote from Marilyn Monroe to be thoughtful about how you came upon this blog. Maybe it was destiny!
“I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.” ― Marilyn Monroe
